What’s Your Handle? Succeeding as a Cultural Institution on Social Media

3-part series - February 27, March 6, March 13.  Noon to 4 p.m. each date.

Is your institution looking to establish a presence on social media? Or are you seeking a refresher on best practices for online communication? Maybe you think it is time for your museum to branch out to new platforms? Regardless of expertise, this interactive workshop provides support for cultural institutions at all stages of social media use. The weekly sessions will begin with the basics of establishing or evaluating your institutions online presence before diving into specifics such as building a monthly editorial calendar, moderating audience interaction, and preparing metrics for content assessment. Each week will also include a guest speaker on current topics including honing your online identity and museums using TikTok. Through both the curriculum and collaboration with fellow participants, this workshop will equip you with the tools to capitalize on traditional social media platforms as well as support your institution’s continued growth in the ever changing digital landscape.

Participants will also work to create policies for managing audience interaction as well as review the range of qualitative and quantitative data available for analyzing social media metrics. Joe Coffey, the “Content Guru”, will join the session to help participants hone their online identity.
