What is real? In an era when the public is consumed by doubts about the authenticity of everything from their social media feeds to the evening news to the voices on their telephones, how can museums use the power of authentic objects and real stories to educate, inspire, and move audiences? What role do real objects play in facilitating difficult conversations and how do we grow as individuals and communities as a result of exhibitions that both include and address what is real?
Conference sessions will examine the power of real objects and inclusive, diverse, and authentic stories. Speakers will address how the choice of objects collected and exhibited gives power and voice to certain groups and histories over others; how exhibition and narrative choices celebrate some stories and ignore others; and engagement strategies that incorporate real objects, real people, and real learning.

Refund Policy: Registration fees are 100% refundable if requested in writing (via email) by Friday, September 25. There will be no refunds after September 25, 2020.
