The Department of Cultural Affairs' updated summer internship opportunities are now posted on the DCA website and the State of Iowa Jobs Portal - NeoGov.    Please note the addition of the Collection Information/Management Technician.  

 Des Moines Location

·  Collection Information/Management Technician -  Contribute to museum projects, develop appropriate skills and behaviors necessary for professional growth.

·  State Historic Preservation Office Internship - Assist with FORUM 2018 (a national and statewide historic preservation conference). 

·  Education Assistant Internship - Help the museum education team with summer programming, including but not limited to assisting with family and break programming, supporting Goldie's Kids Club program, and developing future programming.

·  State Archives Internship - Prepare existing collection information and support general collections storage renaming and reorganization efforts.

·  Events Internship -  Assist and help with planning events held at the State Historical Museum of Iowa.

·  Museum Exhibit Internship - Update, edit, and prepare data/content for use in museum interactive exhibits.

·  Local History Network Surveyor - Survey and build a database of historical societies, genealogical societies, and history-based museums throughout the state of Iowa for the Local History Network.

Historic Sites

·  Edel Blacksmith Historic Site Collections - Located in Haverhill, Iowa, intern will assist with the documentation and cataloging of the artifacts.

·  Montauk Historic Site Interpretation - Located in Clermont, Iowa, intern will develop new self-guided tour brochure and assist with interpretation.
