The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art’s Executive Director Sean Ulmer named to the U.S Senate Curatorial Advisory Board.

 Cedar Rapids IA The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is pleased to announce that Executive Director Sean Ulmer has been named to the U.S. Senate Curatorial Advisory Board.  Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley nominated Ulmer for the position.

 The United States Senate Curatorial Advisory Board is comprised of thirteen members who serve to provide advice and assistance to the U.S. Senate Commission on Art on the “acquisition, care, and disposition of items within the United States Senate Collection, or such other matters as the Commission determines appropriate.”  Serving two-year renewable terms, Board members meet on a regular basis to study potential acquisitions for appropriateness and authenticity, and to provide advice and assistance on collections policies and plans, as well as conservation and disposition of collections items.

 “It is indeed an honor to have been nominated for this important board by Senator Grassley,” says Ulmer.  “I am thrilled to provide any assistance I can to the curator of the U.S. Senate collection.  It is a privilege to serve in this capacity.”

 Ulmer joins twelve other museum professionals from across the country, including architects, curators, historians, professors, and conservation experts.
