Where
It’s App
Interested
in finding an easy way to tell the surrounding community (or farther) about the
learning opportunities your museum offers?
Look no
more! The Wallace Winkie Foundation recently began working with the Iowa
Department on Aging and the Iowa Department of Education to create an app that
will allow anyone in Iowa to find all the info needed on lifelong learning
opportunities in their area and beyond. They also hooked up with the Tippie
School of Business at the University of Iowa where a class of business students
created the app. It will be rolled out for use in spring 2019.
The goal
was to produce an easy-to-use app, compatible with any phone or tablet, that
lets users not only locate formal and informal learning opportunities, but also
get information on cost and schedule. Users begin in one of two ways: by
clicking on one of four broad categories (arts and sciences, continuing ed,
adult ed, community and leisure) to focus on all colleges, universities, or
other organizations who offer opportunities in that specific category or
by entering their town, zip code, or area of interest into the search
engine. Last but not least, the app will offer a quick way to sign up for classes or other opportunities.
The
Wallace Winkie Foundation is very interested in including any workshops,
coursework, lecture series, or other learning opportunities offered by Iowa
museums. To be included in the app at absolutely no charge, just e-mail the
foundation at [email protected].
