Iowa Legislation

The Iowa Legislature passed COVID-19 employer immunity in SF 2338 which retro dates back to January 1 2020 and is in effect until COVID-19 is eliminated.  It provides protection from lawsuits if the business was in substantial compliance with federal or state regulations, orders or guidance.

Museums could reopen as of Friday May 22, 2020

Governor Kim Reynolds announced at her press conference May 20, 2020 that museums, zoos and aquariums could re-open on Friday May 22.  Information on safe reopening here.

Lifts 50% capacity Limitation

On June 12, 2020, Gov. Reynolds lifted the limitation of 50% operating capacity that had been placed on Iowa businesses.  Responsible social distancing and public health measures are still required.  You can find information on reopening here.

Shuttered Venue Grant

The Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program was established by The Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Non-Profits, and Venues Act, signed into law on December 27, 2020. The program includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by the Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance.

Eligible applicants may qualify for SVO Grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, with the maximum amount available for a single grant award of $10 million. $2 billion is reserved for eligible applications with up to 50 full-time employees.

"Relevant museum operators, zoos and aquariums who meet specific criteria" are eligible to apply for the Shuttered Venue Grant.
