The Fort Museum & Frontier Village, Fort Dodge, Iowa
The Fort Museum & Frontier Village is seeking an enthusiastic individual with business and marketing experience, and who has the skills to develop programs with in a challenging and ever changing tourism industry.
If not from the area, they should have keen social networking skills in order to reach out to the community and share the museum's purpose of protecting and preserving our community's heritage for future generations, while forging partnerships with other community groups, clubs, and businesses.
An understanding of museums, history, and historical programming would be beneficial but not required.
Development directing will happen on all levels and with all personnel at the museum. Working hand in hand towards project goals, and finding volunteers to assist the success of such projects and programs is essential.
Top responsibilities would include: supervising the museum and Trading Post (gift shop) businesses, developing events and programs, financial capital campaigns, communicating with board members and working with them, assessing needs & priorities of museum projects and daily functionality, being the mouthpiece of the museum into the community at large.
Required to work some weekends and all major events.
As no benefits are available, an ideal candidate could be a retired person who doesn't feel quite ready to retire. :)
